Position Summary The Manager, Employee Development will facilitate learning and development initiatives through a variety of content and adult learning delivery methods. The Manager will effectively interact with a wide range of stakeholders to develop or procure leadership, technical, compliance, skill, and professional development programs, and monitor their effectiveness. Incorporating the College's Behaviors of Excellence, strategic values, DEBI principles, and a competency-based framework into learning outcomes will be a central goal. This is a hands-on role requiring planning, tracking, and detailed project organization and execution. Reports to Executive Director, Human Resources Essential Functions and Responsibilities · Develop and facilitate employee development programs that are cost effective and focus on general concepts and competencies for employees (MCC Behaviors of Excellence/strategic values), knowledge or skills acquisition, compliance, safety, and leadership competencies · Develop and facilitate high-impact learning experiences grounded in adult learning principles using a wide variety of delivery methodologies (e.g. simulations, mentoring, on-the-job training, workshops, virtual learning, webinar, instructor-led, e-learning) · Research and identify suitable employee development solutions and prepare programs, objectives, and materials utilizing a variety of delivery modes and media-rich content to increase engagement and learning outcomes · Source and coordinate partners, content suppliers, and consultants for employee development and/or onboarding programs; coordinate contracts and travel arrangements for speakers · In conjunction with HR Leadership and department requests, conduct needs assessments for newly hired or transferred employee onboarding to ensure integration; and for established employees to reduce skill or knowledge gaps · Apply adult learning principles and techniques and stay up-to-date on new training methods and techniques · Leverage data analytics and other relevant methodologies to drive decisions and evaluate the effectiveness of training and development efforts · Collect and evaluate training feedback to identify areas of improvement · Develop detailed project plans to ensure quality standards and timelines are met · Maintain learning and development records · Facilitate train-the-trainer sessions to assist leaders with expanding team development · Map compliance and technical training plans for various employee groups; maintain training cycles · Distribute content and provide input to communications to ensure employees throughout the College have knowledge of employee development resources · Assist employees or supervisors with building individual professional development plans · With HR Leadership direction and in collaboration with other departments, facilitate staff, administrative, temporary, seasonal, and student employee learning/development programs and workshop/development days · Responsible for improving efficiencies within functional areas of responsibility by using technology to replace manual functions. Conduct necessary research to develop solutions to HR needs, including appropriate interfaces with other College information systems · Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities · Responsible for other duties as assigned by supervisor Required Education Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution Other Required Qualifications · Five or more years of demonstrable experience, training, organizational development and/or instructional design, ideally within a community college setting · Project organization and management experience Desired Qualifications · APTD or CPTD Certification from Association for Talent Development (ATD) highly preferred, or certificates in training design and delivery, facilitation, instructional design, or performance improvement · Knowledge of Clifton Strengths Finders to maximize individual and team performance Skills and Specifications · Commitment and sincere enthusiasm for developing people and improving learning outcomes · Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills, including written and oral communications, listening, presentation, group facilitation, influencing, and negotiation · Understanding and application of adult learning theories and practice, including how various presentation methods or combination of methods cater to individual adult learning styles · Ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate) · Understanding and application of adult learning theories and practice, including how various presentation methods or combination of methods cater to individual adult learning styles. Ability to adapt training approach as needed. · Effective project, time management, and accuracy skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently · Technological orientation, including the ability to learn new computer applications, including College ERP and HRIS · Ability to demonstrate and maintain the highest standards of ethics/discretion and have a high level of integrity, confidentiality, fairness, and dependability · Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite · Familiarity with web based delivery tools, learning management systems, apps that may enhance training delivery · Demonstration of appropriate judgment · Ability to work independently, yet have a strong team orientation, and to develop productive working relationships at all levels of the organization · Excellent self-management skills with the ability to work independently, show initiative and make good decisions that affect positive outcomes.
