Job Summary
South Mountain Community College is hiring an Instructional Services Specialist - Bilingual Nursing Fellowship Program

This position acts as the primary liaison and support to participants in the Bilingual Nursing Fellowship Program including recruitment and retention activities. Promotes the fellowship program to participants. Assists interested students in completing the application process. Tracks and monitors selected Fellows' progress. Assists in completing the transfer process from SMCC to Phoenix College and Gateway Community College. Completes reporting requirements as determined by the Dean of Academic Affairs.

Essential Functions
40% - Facilitates all new student orientation and registration sessions working collaboratively with student affairs and academic affairs with an emphasis on academic success, student development, and engagement.

20% - Assists with planning, coordination, processing, and implementation of student service programs including the Student Success Initiative (SSI), new student orientation, Guided Pathways, student recruitment and outreach, student first semester advisement, financial planning and scholarships, student strengths development, mentoring,
retention and other enrichment programs; trains and mentors students.

20% - Provides excellent customer service and engages in student outreach initiatives to guide prospective and incoming students in establishing a financial plan for college and completing the steps to enrollment; guides students in the development of behaviors that support retention and completion.

20% - Assists with the implementation of policies and procedures; utilizes student information and customer relationship management systems. Performs other duties as assigned.


Preferred and Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and one (1) year of advanced program support involving program coordination preferably in an educational setting.





OR

High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of directly related full-time work experience in advanced program support involving program coordination preferably in an educational setting.

Desired Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college

2. Two (2) or more years of experience in post-secondary admission, registration and/or enrollment services

3. Experience with collecting and analyzing information for reports

4. Strong skills in bilingual abilities of English/Spanish

5. Strong work experience working with diverse populations and successfully teaching such students

6. Knowledge of Nursing programs as it relates to pre-nursing skills

Special Working Conditions
May be required to work evenings/weekends.

May need to lift items of 20 lbs.
