Job Summary
Conduct investigations of criminal violations on University campus ensuring that laws of State of Georgia and regulations of University are enforced. Assist in supervision of Department of Criminal Investigations. This position has been identified by Federal Law (Jeanne Clery Act) as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), with significant student and campus responsibilities. CSA's are obligated to report crimes reported to them which occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the University.

Responsibilities
Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
Prepare arrest warrants for subjects charged or to be charged for various crimes
Book and photograph subjects charged with a crime
Maintain video surveillance
Book suspects into jail
Coordinate searches of residences and/or vehicles after having prepared a search warrant and having presented it to a judge for his/her concurrence and signature
Escort dignitaries, when on campus, who may be a security risk
Follow all safety and other risk management policies in performance of work
Maintain, repair and clean tools, equipment and work areas
Work on call schedule
Arrest and prosecute law violators
Maintain knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, policies, rules, and regulations
Prepare case files for investigations and compile completed case files for District Attorney for presentation with Grand Jury
Coordinate various criminal investigations and violations of University's rules and regulations with Judicial Affairs
Process crime scenes for possible evidence to identify perpetrator including but not limited to DNA testing, photographs, and fingerprinting
Testify in courts and at hearings regarding evidence and statements obtained during investigations
Answer subpoenas for court appearances until cases have been adjudicated
Assist outside law enforcement agencies with locating subjects needed in their investigations

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree

Other Required Qualifications
Georgia P.O.S.T (Peace Officer Standards Training) law enforcement (police) certified or have ability to obtain P.O.S.T. certification in Georgia as a basic law enforcement officer

Required Experience
Five (5) or more years of related work experience
Supervisory and management experience

Proposed Salary
$50,000 - $56,850

Ability to solve problems and think creatively to manage tense situations courteously and tactfully
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work
Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine proper course of action

KNOWLEDGE
Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
Knowledge of Georgia Crime Information Center, National Crime Information Center facilities and services
Knowledge and/or experience with State Certification process and procedures
Knowledgeable about Georgia Law and office policies and procedures

SKILLS
Demonstrate commitment to inclusiveness by working well with diverse populations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated organizational and human relation skills
Proficiency in developing spreadsheets for reports
