Job Description:
Provide professional support to all students in the program while collaborating with faculty to foster positive advising experiences that will provide personal growth, practical skills, knowledge, and experience in preparation for future employment within various Aviation career fields. Based upon this position's essential functions, it reports to Minnesota State University, Mankato- Aviation Department Monday through Friday and does not have the option to telework.

Working Conditions
Assignments may include evening or weekend advising/orientation duties by the individual, or supervision of a Graduate Assistant (GA) that assists with accreditation site visits. It is possible certain advising or accreditation site visit prep may need to be done the evening prior to the date of the visit.

  • The salary range denoted above is the contractual range; however, salary upon hire is dependent upon qualifications and experience.


Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any Aviation discipline (e.g., Flight, Safety, Airfield, Operations, Dispatch) or any bachelor’s degree if accompanied by license or certification in any aviation occupation and a minimum of one (1) year experience in aviation environment, which may include military, industry (airline, corporate, or airport), educational or professional aviation training (teaching at flight school or academy) or in any education advising role.


  • AAS degree and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a Base Operations, Airfield Operations or Flight Scheduling function, or in a training or advising function may be substituted for the education requirement.


  • Valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Strong background or experience in Aviation (flight, airfield management, safety, dispatch or related)
  • Background or experience in advising, career development or similar field
  • Experience teaching in a formal setting (corporate training and development, P- 12, or Higher Education).
  • Experience with basic student learning assessment practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise students, or strong potential for successful supervision.
  • Knowledge of accreditation practices or potential to learn accreditation practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
