Job Description

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), College of Nursing (CON) and the Arkansas Children’s Research Institute (ACRI), Center for Childhood Obesity Prevention (CCOP) have a collaborative partnership in childhood obesity prevention research. In 2016, NIH awarded a Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) grant to ACRI to establish the CCOP. COBREs focus on developing research infrastructure tied to a specific thematic focus and provide junior faculty investigators with formal mentoring and up to 50% FTE protected research time and funding to help them compete successfully for independent extramural research grant support. Under the CCOP, the position offers unique opportunities for mentored career development and career skills training.

The CCOP serves as the anchor for a comprehensive pediatric obesity program on the Arkansas Children’s campus, encompassing a multi-disciplinary, translational team of investigators focused on elucidating the origins, development, prevention, and treatment of childhood obesity. The College of Nursing at UAMS is committed to scholarly excellence in undergraduate and graduate nursing education, rigorous research, and a strong service ethos to the University, the profession, and society.

This is a tenure-track, 12-month, full-time faculty position in the CON at UAMS. The candidate will pursue a program of funded research, and assume teaching responsibilities within the graduate programs.
