Job Description



Adler University, Chicago is seeking a Director for the M.A. Rehabilitation Counseling (MACR) Program, accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling Related Programs (CACREP).  This is a full-time faculty/administrative 10 month position starting Fall 2021. The MACR program is in the Department of Counseling and Integrated Programs, one of the most dynamic, innovative, and collaborative within Adler University.

Program Overview

Adler University's Department of Counseling and Integrated Program prepares socially responsible clinicians to provide culturally sensitive therapeutic services in a wide range of clinical settings. Students have the option of selecting either an on-campus or online modality. Our distinctive practitioner-focused program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP), which recognizes programs that meet or exceed the highest standards for counselor preparation.



  • a Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, and/or doctorate degree in rehabilitation counseling or related discipline, and who meet CACREP standards for core faculty.
  • a minimum of two (2) years of progressive teaching excellence and/or program development and leadership experience in rehabilitation counseling or related discipline preferred
  • Experience with administration and teaching (online and on-ground) in a CACREP accredited rehabilitation counseling program.
  • Experience in CACREP self-study preparation and engaging in the accreditation process


Certifications/Licenses: Eligible for Illinois Licensure or must become licensed by the end of the first year of employment. State of Illinois Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LCP) required. Certified Rehabilitation Counselor certification, preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the rehabilitation counseling program, including faculty, quality of the program and student experiences.
  • Managing the operation of the MACR program including on-ground course delivery and online (pending further approval) modalities.
  • Maintaining accreditation and related processes.
  • Teaching graduate students, chairing dissertations, student advisement and mentoring, and serving on institutional and departmental committees.
  • Supporting institutional and departmental committees and initiatives, recruitment, and admission efforts.
  • Promoting an inclusive environment for growth and development of diversity, multiculturalism, advocacy, and social justice


Faculty members are expected to teach develop syllabi and teaching materials related to courses taught; and collaborate with department faculty on curriculum and program policies. 


Faculty members are expected to engage in scholarship activities, which may include submissions to peer-review journals or professional and/or lay readership publications; present at academic and professional conferences; and develop and deliver professional workshops and training programs for professionals. 

Faculty members are expected to serve on committees at the campus, department, and professional level. Faculty must demonstrate engagement in and commitment to service to the community and profession consistent with the mission and values of the university.
