Job Description

Boston University School of Public Health
Multiple Full-time Open Rank Faculty Positions

Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) is seeking applicants for multiple faculty positions whose research focuses on one or more of the following five core areas. Each of these areas represent a Strategic Research Direction for the school as articulated on our Strategy Map.
      * Cities and health
      * Climate, the planet, and health
      * Health inequities
      * Infectious diseases
      * Mental and behavioral health

This is an open rank recruitment with appointment possible in any of the School’s six departments: Biostatistics, Community Health Sciences, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Global Health, or Health Law, Policy & Management. The successful candidate will have evidence of strong potential for establishing an independent, extramurally-funded research program, a demonstrated interest in teaching, and a commitment to activist public health. BUSPH believes that the cultural and social diversity of our faculty, staff, and students is vitally important to the distinction and excellence of our research and academic programs. We are eager to have join our ranks colleagues who support our institutional commitment to ensuring BU is inclusive, equitable, diverse, and a place where all constituents can thrive.

Boston University is an AAU institution with a rich tradition of inclusion and social justice. We are proud to be the first American university to award a Ph.D. to a woman, and we continue that tradition of educating a diverse and talented student body. The School of Public Health takes the University’s commitment even further with its own detailed plan for fostering a diverse and inclusive community.

Founded in 1976, the Boston University School of Public Health ranks as the eighth leading public health school in the country, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report graduate school rankings. It offers master's- and doctoral-level education in public health. With over 300 faculty in six departments, the School conducts policy-changing public health research, with the mission of improving the health of populations—especially the underserved—locally and globally.

The School of Public Health actively seeks to enrich its student and faculty ranks, recognizing that diversity of experience deepens the intellectual endeavor. We seek to embed—within our curricular and co-curricular activities—the principle that pluralism within a learning community is a source of insight and effectiveness.

Application review begins September 1, 2021 and will continue until the positions are filled.

Boston University is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We are a VEVRAA Federal Contractor.
