Job Description

This Director will provide leadership and support to the College of Business's (COB) newly established Chevron Leadership Academy. This is a 12 month appointment renewed annually. The position will have a 50:50 appointment as a non tenure-track faculty in the COB teaching two courses each semester, in addition to the role as the program/academy director. Housed in the College of Business, the Chevron Center will be aligned with the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering and the Ruth J. Simmons Center for Race and Justice to ensure that the program responds properly to its mission.

This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaches two courses each semester.
  • Guides, sets strategy and oversees the inter-disciplinary program which will serve students from various majors in Engineering, Business and Arts and Sciences.
  • Works/collaborates with participants to gain access to a variety of programming to broaden their experiences so that they will be comfortable in a variety of settings through their interactions with the iconic leaders and faculty.
  • Fosters relationships for participants to connect with faculty mentors who are able to advise them on learning approaches and courses that will further hone their preparedness for leadership.
  • Hosts and coordinate numerous enrichment that enable participants to be prepared for a diversity of experiences in their professional pursuits.
  • Create opportunities for participants to work directly with campus leaders such as the President, CFO and others to understand what leadership looks like up close.



Required Education & Experience:

  • Doctorate degree with an academic background in Economics or Leadership Studies
  • Five years of prior teaching experience in a university setting.
  • Prior leadership experience with an understanding of the challenges that minorities experience in advancing into leadership roles.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree in Economics.
  • Leadership/supervisory experience in addition to the required teaching experience.
