The School of Physical Sciences is globally renowned for its research and teaching and brings together the research and teaching of three  departments, Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry and Department of Mathematical Sciences, within the University of Liverpool. We also run ground-breaking institutes and centres of excellence.

Research and Innovation activity at the School is constantly making headlines. We are key members of global collaborations such as CERN, work with strategic industry partners such as Unilever and are pioneers in fields such as renewable energy, financial and actuarial mathematics and astrophysics. The School is a lead partner in the innovative and award-winning Central Teaching Hub in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

The Dean will provide strategic direction and leadership for staff based within the School, setting priorities, fostering a supportive and intellectually rigorous culture for students and staff. You will be expected to demonstrate academic leadership at both Faculty and University level by providing senior level contribution to Faculty and University projects and to the achievement of the University's Strategy 2026.
