Job Title Fire Science Trainer Department Fire Science FLSA Status Exempt Job Type Contingent/Seasonal/Temporary Employee Type Part Time Hiring Range Commensurate with experience Grant Funded No Work Year Temporary Work Year-Other Information Typical Work Schedule Fall semester Bargaining Unit Eligibility No Work Week Other Work Week-Other Information Application Review Begins 08/02/2021 Special Instructions to Applicants Position Introduction n/a Position Summary n/a Reports to Dean of Social Sciences and Public Services Essential Functions and Responsibilities Including but are not limited to: -         Teaching in the Fire Academy, which is housed in the Fire Science Department-         Available to teach daytime, evening, or weekend classes, as needed-         Available to teach at various locations throughout McHenry County where Fire Academy classes are held-         Available for student conferences either before or after class, and by College email if necessary-         Work cooperatively within the department, the division, and throughout the College in striving for educational excellence-         Conduct regular assessment of student learning-         Document and report attendance daily and maintain and submit accurate attendance records weekly-         Utilize a variety of teaching styles in order to satisfy the different learning styles of students-         Involvement in campus activities Required Education Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience considered. Other Required Qualifications -         AAS Degree in Fire Science or EMS or State Fire Marshal Certification in related field and 2,000 hours of related work experience; Office of the State Fire Marshal Instructor I certification, 10,000 hours of Fire Service experience, Or, EMT-B Illinois licensure or previous EMT-B or EMT-P licensure and 2,000 hours of related work experience; or certification as an officer through a nationally accredited organization such as ProBoard or International Fire Service Accreditation Congress and 2,000 hours of related work experience-         Demonstrated commitment to professional growth, especially regarding contemporary expertise specific to assigned teaching content  -         Commitment to the mission of the community college, and to teaching and motivating community college students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles-         Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills Desired Qualifications -         Demonstrated teaching experience  Skills and Specifications n/a Location Main Campus
