About This Opportunity
The Director will develop the strategic vision and lead the Institute to the next level of performance by maintaining a strong focus on research excellence, impact, translation, and commercialisation. Working with the Institute leadership team, the Director will set the research direction of the Institute taking account of the global and emerging problems of our time, building upon its existing strengths in multidisciplinary discovery-led research of societal relevance.
This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

This is a full-time, fixed term position for up to five years. A remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant, including superannuation of up to 17%.

The Director should possess a demonstrated track record of leadership at scale and be capable of leading the Institute to the next level of performance by maintaining a strong focus on research excellence, impact, translation and commercialisation. They will be expected to further raise the profile of the Institute by building national and international linkages and partnerships and ensuring financial sustainability. The successful candidate should have an established, independent research program in an area that aligns with current research within the Institute.
