Job Description

Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Fashion Business (Ref. 21070812)


The appointee will be required to:

(a)    teach and contribute to curriculum development at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level(s) and supervise research students in the area of fashion business or related areas;

(b)    initiate, lead and participate in research, consultancy and other scholarly activities leading to publications in top-tier refereed journals and/or exhibitions as well as awards of research grants;

(c)    undertake academic and departmental administrative duties; and

(d)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Institute or his delegates.

Preferred and Required Qualifications


Applicants should have:

(a)    a PhD degree in Fashion Business or related disciplines;

(b)    relevant post-qualification research experience (as supported by evidence of research projects and outputs), and relevant teaching experience;

(c)    sound knowledge of university teaching and/or research experience in fashion business or related areas, preferably at international level;

(d)    solid research and publication record in high quality scholarly journals or strong potential to publish in top-tier refereed journals as well as good potential in bidding for research grants and establishing significant externally funded research programmes;

(e)    strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and professional service; and

(f)    excellent communication skills and the ability to use English as the medium of instruction.

Applicants for appointment at Professor level should have excellent teaching, publication and research collaboration track records.  They should also demonstrate excellent international reputation in research and possess an excellent record of academic leadership and research scholarship, both in terms of publications and funded research.  Applicants with less experience will be considered for appointment at the level of Associate Professor / Assistant Professor.  The job duty requirements and expectation would be in line with the appointed grade.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service
