The Educational Leadership Program at the University of Southern Maine invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor. Our program is experiencing robust growth and is committed to positively impacting the field of education by engaging graduate students in stimulating and timely curricula, providing ongoing opportunities to apply learning in school settings, and creating learning environments designed to positively impact and transform schools for all students. Our faculty members are dedicated to the growth and development of aspiring administrators and teacher leaders. The Educational Leadership program also provides leadership for the Southern Maine Partnership (SMP), a school district - university partnership, collaborating with university and community partners to tackle important topics including diversity and equity, instructional leadership, and educational policy. This past year we facilitated a 6-month program, the Equity Community for Leading and Learning.
Educational Leadership offers a Ph.D. in Public Policy Analysis, two Masters of Science degrees in Educational Leadership (Administration and Teacher Leadership), a Certificate of Advanced Studies, as well as an Assistant Principal Certificate.
Candidates for this tenure-track faculty position will require the ability to (1) teach a range of educational leadership courses at the graduate level, including those at the certificate and masters, (2) supervise Ph.D. students, (3) participate in the Southern Maine Partnership, (4) engage in academic and career advising, (5) produce scholarly works and publications on educational leadership topics, and (6) provide service to the department, school, college, university, and the profession.

A successful candidate will: (1) to be eligible for tenure track, have an earned doctoral degree in educational leadership/school administration or a related field; ABD's with a December 2021 doctorate completion may also be considered at a Lecturer rank until completion, at which time the appointment will convert to a tenure-track position, (2) have experience as an educational leader (school or district administrator), (3) have experience teaching other professionals, (4) demonstrate interest in working in face-to-face, online, blended, and outreach teaching environments, and (5) demonstrate a commitment to diversity, student success, and community engagement.
Pay & Benefits: The base salary for this position is $65,000 with opportunities to increase your salary by teaching in the summer. Preferred start date of September 2021, however a January 2022 start may also be considered.
