Job Description


Cardinal Stritch University is currently seeking a qualified candidate for our Business Office department. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the collection of data and submission of semi-monthly payrolls for the University that include faculty, staff and student workers. This position is responsible for understanding the requirements of the third-party provider for data and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of submissions. This position is responsible for providing payroll information to internal and external customers.

  • Coordinates semi-monthly processing of payroll with third party provider
  • Provides pay rate increases annually for faculty contracts, and as needed for new hires and other changes to payroll provider
  • Provides benefit rate increases annually for all employees, and as needed for new hires and other changes to payroll provider
  • Maintains adjunct, overload and other premium pay records
  • Coordinates Federal Work Study eligibility with Financial Aid Office
  • Generates regular payroll reports and on-demand queries and reports, including responding to audit requests
  • Performs the calculation of employee leave accruals, termination pay and all adjustments to the payroll
  • Maintains employee files
  • Assist employees and student workers who have questions regarding payroll paperwork, policies, and practices, including third party self-service portal
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • High School diploma required
  • Associate's degree preferred
  • Three years' experience processing payroll in house or with third party provider
