The Department of Physical Therapy in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Cardiorespiratory Therapy. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2022, or shortly thereafter.
We are seeking candidates conducting rehabilitation research that will advance the field of cardiorespiratory physical therapy. Research in the fields of pulmonary, cardiac or oncology rehabilitation are of particular interest.
The successful candidate must have a PhD degree either in rehabilitation sciences, exercise science, health sciences or a related area, by the time of appointment, with a clearly demonstrated exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching. Candidates must have completed a university level entry level to practice degree in physical therapy. Completion of a Post-Doctoral fellowship in a related area will be considered an asset. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement our existing departmental strengths. Candidates will have an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program. It is preferred that the successful candidate be eligible for licensure with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals, a strong record of attracting funding as principal or co-principal investigator, presentations at significant conferences, distinguished awards and accolades, and other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, the submitted research statement as well as strong endorsements from referees of high standing.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, including demonstrated experience teaching in an entry-level professional physical therapy program, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application including a strong teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations, as well as strong letters of reference. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to integrate clinical and scientific knowledge in their teaching design and delivery in their application materials. Candidates must demonstrate relevant experience with student supervision.
