This is a temporary assignment.
In collaboration with the Business Interest Area Student Success Team, the coordinator position will directly support a new Business Interest Area career program. This program is called Business Experiencia and will be focused on assisting first generation students with career exploration to create a brighter economic future for themselves and their families.
Business Experiencia participants belong to a diverse group of students interested in learning about business careers through participation in Networking, Counseling, Academic, and Career related activities. Participants are interested in learning from the experiences of business leaders from various backgrounds and industries.
This is a temporary position, working flexible hours up to 20 hours per week, for a total of no more than 165 days during the academic year. This assignment is projected to run August 9, 2021 - May 31, 2022. The position will be primarily located at Ohlone College - Newark campus and will be under the direction of the Business Dean.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work closely with faculty and other partners to recruit students.
• Work with faculty and other partners to deliver program orientations before the Fall semester in order to build community among participants.
• Organize engagement activities for all program participants, including career speakers, student networking activities as well as educational and career planning opportunities.
• Maintain detailed tracking records of students’ progress and success stories.
• Work closely with the Ohlone College Tri-Cities Career Center staff to plan and facilitate enrichment opportunities including industry mentorships and internships.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• One (1) year minimum working in an educational or business environment.
OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved to meet the Job Responsibilities.

• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard.
• Sitting or standing for extended periods.
• Ability to exchange information and make presentations.
• Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching.
