Position Title: Assistant Volleyball Coach-Temporary Campus: Gorham City, State: Gorham, ME Department: Athletics - PATHL Bargaining Unit: Temp Salary Band/Wage Band: NA Work Schedule: Varies based on practice & game schedule Statement of Job:

The University of Southern Maine's Department of Athletics seeks applicants for the temporary position of Assistant Volleyball Coach on the Gorham campus.

CORE DUTIES include: 

  • Assist the head coach in teaching skills and strategies for volleyball in the traditional and non-traditional seasons 
  • Coach volleyball team members individually and in groups, and demonstrate appropriate game techniques
  • Planning and directing portions of team practices to encourage and develop student-athlete skills and game techniques 
  • Develop and recommend strategy, teach theoretical skills and position assignments
  • Help with recruitment of athletes 
  • Adhere to and support all rules, conditions and regulations in place at USM and the NCAA
  • Video breakdown
  • Stat tracking
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Hours must be flexible to attend away games and varied practice times.  Schedule begins mid-August through the end of the season.  Non-traditional season is four to five weeks in the spring.

Qualifications:

  • Four years or equivalent collegiate playing experience. 
  • Bachelors preferred. 
  • Knowledge and ability to work with college aged volleyball players.
