Valley City State University Science department invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Botany.

The candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses in Botany, Range Management and Range Plants, Introduction to Global Information Systems (GIS), and other classes depending on the expertise of the candidate and the needs of the Science Department. The selected candidate will also be responsible for organization of the VCSU plant collection, oversee a small prairie site on campus park, and help with undergraduate recruitment and advising of Fisheries and Wildlife Science majors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Biology or related field
  • Strong desire to teach, knowledge of teaching methods, and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work with others in a collegial and collaborative manner

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or ABD in Biology or related field
  • Experience teaching, especially at the university level
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the use of technology in the classroom
  • Interest in creating undergraduate research program
  • Global Information Systems (GIS) Experience
  • Excellent plant identification skills for plants found in the Northern Great Plains

CompensationThe salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications, and typically ranges from $42,000 to $46,000 annually.
