        SUMMARY: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Colorado Mesa University currently has two open tenure-track positions for an Assistant Professor of Computer Science, with one emphasizing Cybersecurity. The positions are scheduled to begin August 2021. The responsibilities of these positions include teaching a variety of computer science courses. Courses are primarily at the undergraduate level, with a standard teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester. Courses assigned may be in traditional, hybrid, or online formats. Additional responsibilities include engaging students in research and projects; scholarship in the discipline; academic assessment; service to the department and community; and advising students.Colorado Mesa University is a four-year public liberal arts institution, with a B.S. in Computer Science and is a Western Colorado hub for the state funded cybersecurity centers. The university's main campus is in Grand Junction, Colorado which is midway between Salt Lake City, Utah and Denver, Colorado. Grand Junction, with a population of about 150,000, serves as the economic core of western Colorado. The region's moderate climate permits a variety of year-round recreational outdoor activities (more details).
        QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
        EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Required:
        • Master's in computer science or related field from an accredited institutio
          • Minimum of 5 years work and/or research in Software Industry/Cybersecurity or teaching experienc
            • Evidence of excellence and adaptability in teaching, service, and scholarship particularly in relation to undergraduate education in Computer Science/Robotics/Embedded Systems/Cybersecurit
              • Excellent communication in English
                Preferred:
                • Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution
                  • ABD contingent on completion/defense within 12 months of hire
