Job Description

The Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Pharmacology/medicinal chemistry provides academic instruction to pharmacy students in a team-based learning format. Additional responsibilities include development of scholarship and research, participation in assigned college or university committees, provide service as a faculty advisor to pharmacy students and oversight of assigned co-curricular student activities.
  • Provide didactic instruction within assigned courses in accordance with course syllabi
  • Participate in the assessment of student learning course outcomes, program learning outcomes, global learning outcomes, and co-curricular learning outcomes
  • Conduct educational or health-related research and/or scholarly activity that is either published or presented following peer review
  • Participate actively in professional pharmacy or health organizations
  • Serve as a role model of professional behavior to students
  • Develop an elective course that can be offered at least once a year
  • Serve as an advisor to students and student groups
  • Participate in the interviewing of student or faculty applicants
  • Actively participate as a member or chair of college or university committees
  • Participate in faculty development programs or other college/university functions as assigned
  • Participate in other duties as assigned in service to the college or university

Education:

PhD in Pharmacology/Medicinal Chemistry. Pharmaceutical sciences background and previous academic experience at a college of pharmacy is highly preferred.

Skills & Experience:

The Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Pharmacology/medicinal chemistry must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with students, faculty, administrators, patients, and other health professionals. This person must be adept at organizing complex scientific and professional subject matter and designing instructional strategies that make the material easier to understand and apply. Skilled in using computer software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required, as is the ability to use electronic and internet educational and professional resources. A comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy practice and pharmacy administration is essential, along with strong critical thinking skills and the ability to function effectively and collaboratively in an interprofessional patient care environment. Experience in teaching with a team-based learning format is a plus.
