The Department of Community Psychology seeks applicants for a full-time ten-month faculty position as an Assistant Professor beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year. Our department is dedicated to identifying a colleague to support our mission of creating a program defined by its non-traditional student body and holistic approach to client care in which individuals are seen in the context of their community. Moreover, we are looking for a team member who will join in the department's commitment to preparing culturally responsive counselors.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

All Psychology faculty at Alverno College collaborate in curriculum development, teaching, learning, assessment, and program evaluation within Psychology and the curriculum at large. This includes instructional and administrative duties as necessary and assigned. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Teach a range of courses in our Master of Science in Community Psychology program. The faculty teaching load will require the teaching of theory and clinical supervision courses. Faculty members will also have the opportunity to teach in their interests within the program.
  • Collaborate with clinics to develop and maintain partnerships with clinical practicum sites.
  • Advise graduate students.
  • Serve and collaborate in departmental and cross-departmental committees.
  • Engage in scholarship activities related to teaching and counseling practice.
Qualifications and Education
  • Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counselor Education or related Psychology field required.
  • Licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Psychologist, or other mental health provider.
  • Background check required.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to professionally communicate with students, faculty and staff.
  • Experience and ease with teaching and learning in multiple modalities including in online and hybrid contexts.
  • Willingness to learn and apply Alverno's outcomes-based approach to teaching and learning.
  • Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College's strategic plan of inclusion.
