Job Description

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health is currently accepting applications to fill a full-time, 12-month non-tenure-track teaching faculty position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of Biostatistics and Data Science. The normal load of this position is to teach 5-6 biostatistics courses per year (three semesters) with at least four of those covering introductory or intermediate biostatistics, and with minimum service expectations outside of teaching. This is a 3-year appointment with possibility of renewal and potential of promotion to the level of Associate and/or Full Professor of Instruction. 

Position Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in biostatistics, statistics or related discipline is required. The candidate must have a strong commitment to teaching, enthusiasm to work with students, and provide evidence of teaching excellence and good communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates who show evidence or promise of a career focusing on the development and practice of effective teaching strategies and novel pedagogic technologies. A teaching statement is required for application consideration.

The Department of Biostatistics and Data Science at the UTHealth School of Public Health has a 40+-year history at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and is committed to excellence in research, education and collaboration services in biostatistics and data science. The department currently has more than 20 full-time faculty members and 130 graduate students (MPH, MS and Ph.D). As one of the largest Biostatistics PhD programs in the country, our department is ranked second in the number of Biostatistics PhDs produced in the past five years (AMSTATNEWS, August 2018).
