Assistant Professor of Sociology
Union College is seeking applicants for a full-time position in Sociology beginning August 2021. Founded in 1879, Union is a small, liberal arts college located in southeastern Kentucky. Union has a long history of commitment to Appalachia and provides quality education accessible to a wide range of students, including underrepresented groups such as first-generation students.
We seek an individual who is student-centered and committed to quality undergraduate teaching at our Barbourville, KY campus. While applicants should have a broad command of subjects in the discipline, candidates with special interest in Appalachia or rural studies are encouraged to apply. Applicants should hold a doctorate in sociology; ABD considered.
Union faculty are also responsible for student advising, committee work, participation in program and college service activities, and engagement in professional development activities. Knowledge and use of educational technologies and on-line teaching is expected. Screening of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
