Job Description

The School of Applied Health Sciences and Wellness at Ohio University invites applications for a full time, 11-month Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor (non-tenure track) position in the Division of Athletic Training beginning August 15, 2021. The division is looking for an experienced, student-friendly colleague with athletic training clinical experience and teaching experience. The Division is collegial with respect to course offerings and the specific course load will be based on the candidate's strengths and the needs of the Division. The candidate is expected to participate in service to the school, college and university and student advising.

Serve as the Director of Clinical Education for the Professional Master of Science in Athletic Training and Post-Professional Master of Science in Athletic Training. Provide instruction as assigned in the courses offered by the Division. Standard teaching duties for this position will be 18 credit hours total across the academic year.

The candidate will be responsible for coordination of clinical education including:

  • Working with the professional and post-professional program directors
  • Oversight of student clinical progression
  • Auditing of required documentation and affiliation agreements
  • Student assignment to athletic training clinical experiences and supplemental clinical experiences
  • Clinical site evaluation
  • Student evaluation
  • Regular communication with preceptors
  • Professional development of preceptors
  • Preceptor selection and evaluation

The successful candidate will foster our existing clinical site and preceptor relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned Master's Degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • Credentialed by the Board of Certification as an athletic trainer.
  • Eligible for Ohio Licensure as an athletic trainer.
  • Previous athletic training experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years of teaching experience.
  • Earned doctorate in athletic training or related field.
  • Experience as a coordinator of clinical education within an athletic training program.
  • Experience in supervision of athletic health care outreach programs, involving recruitment, retention, and fostering of academic and/or community partnerships.
  • Willingness to contribute to the climate of diversity in the College; including a diversity of scholarly approaches.
