OVERVIEW

The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in Mathematics or Actuarial Science to begin in September 2021. The successful candidate is expected to teach a variety of undergraduate courses housed in the Department of Mathematics. The standard teaching load for this position is three four-credit courses per semester. We seek applicants with a record of success in teaching and scholarship in these and related fields, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The 21-member Department of Mathematics offers bachelor's programs in mathematics, mathematics education, and actuarial science, and supports the interdepartmental degree program in statistics. The visiting appointment is for the 2021-2022 academic year and is not renewable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have or be near completion of a Ph.D. in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or a closely related field. ABDs nearing completion of the Ph.D. will be considered, with the initial appointment to be made at the rank of instructor. The applicants must also be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching.
