Job Description:

Assistant Professor of General Biology/ Parasitology /Comparative Anatomy & Physiology

This is a 9-month faculty position in the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences within the College of Agricultural, Life and Natural Sciences.

Tenure-status of position is negotiable based on qualifications.


Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):

  • Ph.D. in Biology or a related discipline.
  • Teaching experience at the college level.
  • Must have the ability to teach general biology and introductory biology and vertebrate physiology courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Must have demonstrated content expertise in Biology.
  • Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching experience is an advantage.
  • Publications in refereed journals is a plus.
  • Must have the ability to teach day, evening and/or Saturday classes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach general biology including parasitology, comparative anatomy & physiology, as well as lower level biology courses for majors and non-majors.
  • Mentor students in undergraduate research.
  • Support undergraduate research opportunities.
  • Participate in professional organizations and in course, curriculum, and program development.
  • Advise students and provide career guidance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated strong commitment to undergraduate education and research.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment is important.

The salary for each position is based on the grade/tier in which the position is placed, and the salary within the grade/tier is based on the number of years of related experience or number of years in the hiring rank.
