The Department of Economics and Sociology at the University of Southern Maine invites applications for Part-Time Faculty positions in Economics. The successful candidate will be required to teach Introductory Macroeconomics (ECO 101) and/or Introductory Microeconomics (ECO 102). The courses will run from August 30, 2021 until December 10, 2021.
Part time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior college teaching experience. In addition, USM employees have access to the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center(s) with their USM Card. USM also offers Part time faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD), the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL, in addition to other developmental opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.
The Economics Program has a proud tradition of faculty trained in heterodox as well as neoclassical economics, with research and teaching interests in macroeconomic theories, global and regional development, economic history, and applied microeconomics including labor, gender, happiness, food, environmental and natural resources, and social justice. Our faculty are deeply committed to the values of inclusiveness, diversity, and environmental sustainability at local, state, national, and global scales.
Applicants must have at least a Master's degree (PhD preferred) in Economics, and prior successful experience teaching economics at the college level in both face-to-face and on-line environments. Documented experience with non-traditional students a plus.
