The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially based private institution of 9,200 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa’s dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 27 contact hours total over the 2021-22 academic year. Contact hours are determined by in-class hours in a 1:1 relationship. The teaching assignment will be made by the department based on student demand and faculty expertise.  The ideal candidate positions may teach a variety of courses with an emphasis on 100-level chemistry lectures and laboratories (general and non-majors chemistry) and possibly other courses in chemistry depending on the candidate’s expertise. Service to the University and professional community are encouraged but not required.

The Department consists of approximately 32 full-time faculty and academic staff members and more than 220 majors. The Department offers eight Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Forensic Science, and Physics with approximately 25 graduates per academic year from these programs.  Majors in Chemistry, Forensic Science and Biochemistry are accredited by the American Chemical Society, The Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Commission and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
