Job Description

Southwest Baptist University is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to direct the University's nationally ranked "Speaking Bearcasts" forensics team, as well as teach courses as part of the communication arts curriculum offered by the University.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in communication preferred; Phd. in progress will be considered. Previous experience with a comprehensive speech and debate program required; coaching preferred (participation considered). Applicant needs to be available to travel with the team, comfortable with a range of technology, and able to manage a budget and other administrative needs of the team. Commitment to Pi Kappa Delta, preferred.

Applicant will teach a minimum workload of 24 total credits per academic year across a broad range of communication courses and will also be responsible for complying with university guidelines regarding faculty duties, including office hours, committee work, recruitment, and participation in academic events. Applicant must be a professing Christian with active commitment to the local church and the University's evangelical Christian mission and will not teach contrary to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

Appointment date: August 1 2021
Rank and Salary: Assistant Professor, tenure-track based upon qualifications. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
