Job Summary

The Department of Medical Education at the Quillen College of Medicine of East Tennessee State University invites applications for an open-rank, non-tenure track faculty position in the area of Pharmacology Education. Exceptional applicants will be considered for a convertible- or tenure-track position. We seek candidates with broad training in Pharmacology and a demonstrated ability for excellent teaching, as responsibilities will include teaching Pharmacology to medical students and management of the Pharmacology discipline thread across Quillen's organ systems-based curriculum. Preference will be given to those candidates with expertise in interactive learning pedagogies, knowledge of medical school accreditation standards, and educational scholarship.

This is an excellent opportunity with a competitive starting salary, 3 to 5 year contract depending upon faculty rank, state-of-the-art teaching facilities, and the commitment of the existing faculty to provide strong career mentoring. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Successful candidates must present evidence of an established record of, or demonstrate a strong potential for, effective pharmacology teaching, and a commitment to work productively with a team of medical educators from other basic and clinical science disciplines. Evidence for potential of productive scholarly and creative activity is also desired. Ability to contribute to teaching other disciplines is an asset. The ability to teach students from all backgrounds.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • PhD in Pharmacology or closely related field,
  • MD, DO and/or PharmD,
  • At least 2 years of relevant post-graduate experience.
Preferred Qualifications

Pharmacology teaching experience at the medical or pharmacy school level. Experience in innovative educational practices. Knowledge of undergraduate medical school curricular/accreditation standards. Experience in educational scholarship.

Salary: Commiserate with experience
