Assistant Professor of Sociology
The Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work seeks experienced applicants for a full-time non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology beginning with the fall term in August 2021. Future tenure-track is a possibility. The workload consists of 24 credit hours of teaching (8 courses) each year, with the faculty member teaching introductory and advanced courses in various subspecialties of Sociology. We are looking for an energetic, student-centered, and collaborative colleague to help the program best serve students' long-term needs and interests.The ideal applicant will hold a Ph.D. in Sociology and have experience successfully teaching courses related to sociology of gender, gender inequalities, and multicultural studies. Competitive candidates will have experience teaching a range of Sociology courses, including Introductory Sociology, Sociological Theories, Social Change, and Methods of Social Research. The position involves advising (including assisting students with registration), supervising student internships, serving on campus committees, and participating in department meetings and activities. The candidate is also expected to teach courses in our new Gender Studies minor.
