General Summary

The Wonsook Kim School of Art at Illinois State University is offering 2 non-tenure track lectureship positions in Graphic Design to begin August 16, 2021 at 1.00 FTE. The School will be looking to fill one of the positions for the Fall semester only and the other for the full Academic year. We are seeking knowledgeable and innovative designers/teachers with demonstrable design skills and a thorough comprehension of Graphic Design as a conceptually based communications discipline. The successful candidates will have the ability to teach beginning through advanced students in the Graphic Design sequence. Responsibilities include teaching 4 graphic design courses during the fall semester. The spring semester will include similar graphic design courses. Specific courses have yet to be determined. Committee service is not expected but is available if the successful applicant requests it.

These positions are represented by the Illinois State University Education Association and may have associated dues or fees.

Additional Information

In addition to the Graphic Design sequence, the Wonsook Kim School of Art includes eleven studio sequences, art history, visual culture, and art education. The school is made up of thirty-four full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty members, several non-tenure track instructors, and four administrative professionals provide support. Our student population is approximately 350 majors at the undergraduate level and approximately 35 graduate students.

The Wonsook Kim School of Art provides a professional and academic education for students desiring careers in the visual arts. Our students benefit from our highly accomplished and diverse faculty who teach a broad range of courses that represent a broad array of media and disciplines.

Required Qualifications
  1. Master of Fine Arts, Master of Design, or equivalent OR substantial work experience with a Bachelor's degree in lieu of a Master's will be considered.
  2. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
  3. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
