Position Summary:
The Director of Experiential Learning administers the overall operations of the Clinical Training and Assessment Centers (CTAC) and Osteopathic Manipulation labs. This position implements and evaluates experiential learning and simulated experiences across the 4-year medical school continuum, providing leadership support of the ongoing faculty development of an osteopathic clinical skills education program. This position requires working closely with faculty, administrators and staff to assist in the design, implementation and evaluation of an osteopathic clinical skills programs that serves the faculty and students across the College. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to maintain harmonious working relationships and effectively address complex and sensitive administrative issues and be able to establish consistent practices at HCOM academic campuses.

Primary Responsibilities:
1. Administer the overall operations, including fiscal oversight and records management, of the Clinical Training and Assessment Centers (CTAC) and Osteopathic Manipulation (OMM) labs, including leadership and direction of the functional work of the CTAC coordinators on each academic campus in collaboration with the Senior Directors on each campus. Directly supervise the Athens-based CTAC Coordinator. Maintenance of a state-of- the-art simulation center on the Athens campus. Oversite of the inventory, purchase and maintenance of educational equipment, simulators and supplies for all clinical skills activities.
2. Support the longitudinal clinical skills curriculum needs, from matriculation to graduation, including BLS and ACLS training, routine coursework, interprofessional education opportunities, bootcamps and transition to residency programming. Ensure the learning environment and delivery methods are consistent with accreditation and nationally recognized simulation standards (e.g. COCA, SSH). Resource faculty needs for learning activities, including simulated and standardized patients, identifying external medical professionals for support, and coordinating with the medical education office operations teams and faculty curriculum leadership to ensure proper scheduling of faculty and students for events. Resource non-curricular events that require support in the CTAC and OMM labs, as requested by the College.
3. Maintain working knowledge of learning system technologies used in the CTAC and OMM labs, including Learning Space and Microsoft TEAMS to support their implementation in teaching and learning. Oversee the collection of data on learning outcomes for all activities requiring the use of Learning Space and collaborate with faculty on disseminating findings. Develop and enforce policies and procedures that ensure safe, effective and efficient use of the Learning Space platform at all Heritage College campuses and sites, in coordination with Heritage College OMET and OIT.
4. Operationalize faculty development opportunities to support experiential learning, interprofessional collaboration and simulation, based on medical education trends and faculty curriculum goals, including development of standard assessment methods with consistent inter-rater reliability. Develop consistent training practices for simulated and standardized patients that reflect this work. Complete other administrative responsibilities as assigned to enhance the student educational experience.

Occasional travel required to Dublin and Cleveland campuses.


Preferred and Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education, organizational psychology, health professions, or closely related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the master's degree requirement.
  • 3 years of work related experience
  • 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of work related experience
  • 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience.
