Position Summary

The Student Resource Assistant will skillfully guide students as they navigate college processes throughout the entire student life cycle including registration, financial aid, advising, and student engagement. As an advocate for student-centered practices, this position will identify barriers to student success and implement student retention initiatives aimed to increase student engagement and degree completion. Responsible for operating and maintaining the Welcome Center and engaging with members of the MCC community in an effort to help them attain the information they need to feel connected to the College and ensuring that all feel welcomed.

Reports to Director of Student Retention and Conduct
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

· Greet, welcome, direct, and assist students and other guests to campus as their first point of contact and assist them in reaching their destination
· Provide exceptional customer service and direct support to students navigating all facets of the college experience beginning with application to degree completion
· Implement institutional initiatives aimed to enhance student retention and degree completion
· Actively engage with currently enrolled and prospective students using multiple modes of communication (phone calls, text messages, email, mailings, etc.)
· In partnership with campus departments, identify students who need additional outreach (i.e. - contact students with outstanding paperwork due) and coordinate student outreach
· Assist College departments in connecting students to the appropriate resources, forms, processes, etc.
· Support academic retention initiatives designed to enhance student success by promptly identifying issues and allowing for intervention before students fall behind at any point in the semester
· Organize and implement Student Resource Stations and similar programs during key times in the semester
· Support the creation and distribution of the College's weekly student communication (The Flush)
· As student traffic demands, assist campus departments in their efforts to serve students by answering student emails, phone calls, and provide in-person assistance
· Coordinate with College departments for collaborative workshops and resources
· Refer students to resources that meet their specific needs and provide advocacy and assistance to students when working with faculty and staff and in navigating campus procedures
· Serve as the voice for student success on various committees and projects
· Utilize appropriate technology to assist students and general public with scheduling appointments, navigating the College website, Student Information System, and other technologies
· As needed, operate the College communication system (switchboard) using telecommunication integrated systems
· Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities
· Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

Required Education Associate's Degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution
Other Required Qualifications

· One-year of experience in responding to customer inquiries or related experience

Desired Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree preferred
· Bilingual(English/Spanish) communication skills
· Experience working in higher education
