The University of Southern Maine's Department of Linguistics is seeking applicants for the position of part-time instructor in ASL/English interpreting. We offer a series of interpreting courses, including LIN 331 (ASL/English Interpreting), LIN 332 (Consecutive Interpreting and Deaf/Hearing Interpreter Teams), LIN 333 (Interpreting: Source Language ASL), and LIN 334 (Interpreting: Source Language English).

The Department of Linguistics is an undergraduate program within the College of Science, Technology and Health. Linguistics students can major in general linguistics or in a number of concentrations. Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior college teaching experience. In addition, USM employees, have access to the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center(s) with their USM Card. USM also offers part-time faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD), the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL, in addition to other developmental opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.

RID certification (CDI, RSC, CSC, CI/CT, NIC IV-V, BEI-Master). EIPA assessment if teaching education-related courses. SC:L if teaching legal interpreting courses. QMHI if teaching Mental Health courses. CoreCHI, CHI, or CMI plus generalist certification if teaching medical courses. Evidence of mentoring experience and familiarity with the Integrated Model of Interpreting.

At least one of the three references should be a native ASL signer.
