Job Description

As a member of the Marietta College Physician Assistant Program, each faculty member will be involved with duties of teaching, scholarship/professional development, service and advising. Faculty members will represent the College and the PA program at state, regional, and national meetings and seminars. All faculty members have the option to maintain clinical practice one day/week. 

Faculty members are expected to participate with all aspects of the program, including meeting with prospective students, admissions, department/program committee meetings, curriculum design/instruction/evaluation, student evaluation/remediation, student advising/counseling and serving on committees within the department and College.

All faculty appointments report directly to the Program Director of the Marietta College Physician Assistant Program. Faculty members will maintain good communication and positive/professional working relationships with other department members and students. 

The position requires the individual to possess the knowledge and clinical skills needed to conduct the curriculum of the PA program. This includes, but is not limited to, the ability to perform the following functions related to student education: 1) designing curriculum, 2) implementing curriculum, 3) coordinating curriculum, 4) course instruction, 5) evaluating curriculum, 6) evaluating student performance, 7) evaluating the MCPA program. 


Didactic phase courses with potential team-teaching/course coordination responsibilities:

PASP 502 Physical Examination I (3 credits) and PASP 504 Physical Examination II (3 credits)

PASP 516 Professional Issues I (2 credits)

PASP 510 Intro to Clinical Medicine (1 credit); PASP 520 Clinical Medicine I (3 credits) and PASP 522 Clinical Medicine II

PASP 505 Pathophysiology I (3 credits); PASP 507 Pathophysiology II (3 credits)

  • Develop, assess and evaluate course objectives, content and syllabi
  • Instruct course sections and labs
  • Assist with other instructor labs
  • Prepare, organize, proctor and evaluate examinations
  • Recruit, schedule and proctor guest lecturers
  • Provide exam feedback and remediation
  • Lead case scenarios
  •  Organize and schedule clinical experiences
  • Advise the Program Director of any course and/or student problems
  • Maintain course grades

Clinical phase rotations with potential course coordination responsibilities:  PASP 650 Internal Medicine Rotation (5 credits)

 PASP 653 Pediatrics (5 credits)

  • Develop, assess and evaluate course objectives, content and syllabi
  • Prepare, evaluate and remediate examinations
  • Evaluate and grade rotational assignments
  • Advise the Clinical Coordinator(s)/Program Director of any problems within the courses and the progress of the students within the course


  • Develop, organize, lead simulation training 
  • Develop, organize, oversee, grade and provide remediation for OSCE stations 
  • Instruct during board review week
  • Assist with updating summative and board review exams


  • Publication of research and creative endeavors
  • Presentations at professional meetings and conferences
  • Maintain professional licensure
  • One day a week for clinical work available



  • Serve on Curriculum Committee
  • Serve on Progress & Conduct Committee
  • Serve on Admissions Committee to include:
  • Reviewing 150 ? 175 applications/year
  • Participating in 3 interview days/year
  • Serve on Accreditation Committee
  • Serve on Search Committees (when needed)
  • Assist with semi-annual program open houses
  • Participate with MCPA Student Society meetings/events
  • Serve as a reference for graduates and alumni
  • Serve as a faculty representative for MCPA Student Society


  • Serve on campus wide committees


  • Attend, participate and officially represent Marietta College at professional meetings


  • Advise and counsel first/second and capstone students ? maintaining documentation of meetings for future reference


  • Maintain knowledge of current ARC-PA Standards and implement into curriculum
  • Participate in faculty development with other faculty members
  • Assist the Program Director with reports and other duties, as deemed necessary
  • Report problems/concerns related to the program and/or students to the Program Director


  • Terminal degree in field (Masters minimum)
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Current or eligibility for Ohio state licensure
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience required
  • Teaching experience highly desirable (PA education preferred)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with educational and office technology (i.e. Microsoft Office and PowerPoint)
