The Department of Human Sciences in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University invites applications for a full-time (9-month) clinical faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank in Hospitality Management to complement and extend our existing expertise and contribute to our program. We seek individuals who can contribute to our hospitality management undergraduate program. This position will begin in August of 2021.

The successful candidate will primarily teach courses in our hospitality undergraduate degree program. We seek candidates with expertise in teaching undergraduate coursework devoted to hotel management, introduction to hospitality management, and healthcare environments, as well as coordinate our industry advisory board. Additional expectations include service to the department (including the industry advisory board), college, and the community, and performance of administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications: Candidates with masters degree related to business are preferred. The candidate selected for this position must demonstrate the ability to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States by August 2021. Management experience in the hotel industry and experience working with industry advisory boards is required, as is experience with developing and offering Massive Online Open Courses. This position has an emphasis on engagement with industry partners to enhance the capacity of our degree program to prepare our students to become leaders in the hospitality industry. We, therefore, seek candidates with extensive experience and sustained demonstrated excellence in engaging industry partners to advance educational and philanthropic goals of the Hospitality Management program. We also seek candidates demonstrating sustained excellence in engaging students in industry-relevant experience to enhance their education and preparation for the workforce.

Preference will be granted to candidates who demonstrate excellence in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in their teaching and service agendas and who offer robust evidence of sustained impact.

Department of Human Sciences: The Department of Human Sciences is home to four core academic areas, offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees: Consumer Sciences, Human Development and Family Science, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and Kinesiology. Faculty also have funding from a host of industry- and community-based organizations. In FY 2020, The Department of Human Sciences was awarded $9.2 million in grants and had $5.1 million in research expenditures. Ten graduate majors and nine undergraduate majors are housed within the department; students may choose from 36 curricular options. During the 2019-2020 academic year, total course enrollments in the Department of Human Sciences included 26,118 enrollments from undergraduate students and 1,303 enrollments from graduate students. In addition to our highly-qualified faculty, we have full-time staff members, part-time lecturers and graduate assistants to support the department's academic mission.
