The Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics Department (PERA) is seeking an individual with experience working within a community of diverse students and colleagues. Successful candidates will by their teaching, administration, leadership or service demonstrate they can contribute to the diversity and excellence of athletics, the department and our community. PERA is currently accepting applications for a full-time non-tenure track appointment as Head Coach of Golf/PERA Assistant Professor of the Practice. At Wellesley College, non-tenure track positions are full members of the faculty on continuing long-term contracts.
Responsibilities: Managing all aspects of a
Division III women's golf program, including but not limited to coaching, practice organization, student-athletes' holistic wellbeing,
recruiting, player skill/leadership development, coordinating an annual golf tournament and the supervision of an assistant coach. The
successful candidate will also encourage academic and athletics excellence and adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the College,
NCAA, Liberty League and New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. Additionally, teaching as part of the required Physical
Education curriculum, service on department and college committees and professional development are expected.
Facilities: Nehoiden Golf Course, located on the campus of Wellesley College is one of the oldest nine-hole course in the country. It serves as the practice and competitive home for the golf team. A Full Swing Golf simulator is located in the Keohane Sports Center and is available all year round for training and lessons.
Start Date: July 1, 2021. Competitive salary and benefits package for full-time faculty appointment commensurate with qualifications. A valid driver's license and full background check are required.
Qualifications: Master's degree and CPR/AED certification is required. LPGA/PGA teaching/coaching certification may be considered in lieu
of a master's degree. Demonstrated experience coaching, recruiting, and teaching in Physical Education preferred. Experience in
student-athlete leadership development, group dynamics, and effective communications are highly valued.
All candidates should possess an understanding of the role Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics play in a rigorous academic setting with an ability to identify and attract outstanding students to one of the nation's top liberal arts colleges that has international prominence.
