Job Description

 

The Art and Design Studies Program at Wilson College seeks applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Graphic Design with the ability to teach digital photography to begin Fall 2021. The position is a full-time, renewable appointment with a 4/3 teaching load. 

Responsibilities:
  • Teaching responsibilities include a range of introductory to advanced courses in graphic design, digital photography (possibly film photography), and some art history. 
  • The ideal candidate will support efforts to make arts programming more inclusive and may collaborate on creative projects with division faculty.
  • The finalist will maintain an ongoing scholarly agenda of practice-led research.

Required Qualifications: 

  • An MFA in graphic design or visual art; 
  • A record of professional accomplishment in the field of graphic design or related discipline; 
  • Expertise in the Adobe Creative Suite, along with an ability to integrate studio practices with aesthetic, historical, social, ethical, and community-based concerns; 
  • Ability to work collegially in a close-knit faculty with practitioners from varied artforms, and a desire to work collaboratively across curricular and creative projects; and
  • Eligibility to work in the United States. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • The ability to teach film photography, and
  • The ability to teach in Wilson's interdisciplinary MFA program for a candidate with an exhibition, instillation, theatrical design, or performance art record in addition to the professional graphic design portfolio.
