Job Description

Job Summary:

The School of Humanities Program in English at ULM invites applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in African-American Literature. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach 4 courses per semester, divided between composition, general education, and advanced courses as required
  • Advise and mentor students at the undergraduate and M.A. level
  • Maintain an active role in research and service

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in English or closely related field, with an emphasis on African-American Literature
  • Active research agenda in African-American Literature, Black Studies, Africana Studies, or other related subfield
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and research
  • Preferred secondary areas of expertise may include composition studies; creative nonfiction; early modern literature
