Job Description:

Decker School of Nursing invites qualified applicants to apply for a full-time ranked position (Clinical Assistant Professor) in the undergraduate nursing programs, beginning with the 2021 fall semester. Primary clinical foci are clinical teaching in acute medical-surgical and/or long-term care settings. Academic skills include the ability to develop and deliver lecture content and experience with online course development and delivery. Valued personal attributes include good communication skills, initiative, creativity, and ability to collaborate, compromise and adhere to deadlines.

 We are seeking a motivated and creative faculty member who can participate effectively in course team meetings and function independently in the clinical setting. 

Job duties and responsibilities include:
  • Course development and delivery
  • Instruction and guidance to undergraduate nursing students in clinical, lab practice, and/or simulation setting
  • Constructive feedback to undergraduate nursing student(s) on clinical expectations and performance
  • General academic advisement to assigned undergraduate nursing students 
  • Clear communication
    • with students on course and clinical expectations and performance
    • with the course coordinator(s): student performance/performance issues
    • with clinical facility: coordination of dates of clinical experience, roster of students, etc.
    • between the clinical unit / facility and the undergraduate nursing program
  • Role model professional behavior for students
  • Feedback to course coordinator(s) on clinical site: suitability of unit for clinical experience/level of student: benefits, challenges
  • Participation in all team meetings for assigned clinical courses
  • Participation in Faculty Council meetings
  • Committee membership
  • Salary range is commensurate with years of experience and education. 
Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of three to five years of direct patient care experience
  • Unencumbered RN license in NY
  • Master's Degree in nursing
  • Basic computer skills
  • Clinical teaching experience
Desired: 
  • Specialty clinical experience (pediatrics, behavioral health, obstetrics)
  • Lecture experience
  • Course development experience
  • Assessment development
  • Test construction
  • Development and presentation of coursework using an online or hybrid format
  • Possession of/ability to obtain an unencumbered RN license in PA
  • Matriculation in a doctoral program or an earned doctorate from an accredited university
