Job Summary: Graduate School of Counseling and Psychology (GSCP) seeks to fill a full-time core faculty position in the Transpersonal Wilderness Therapy (TWT) program beginning July 1, 2021. The job includes administrative duties for the TWT program, the Graduate School of Counseling and Psychology, and the university, including but not limited to recruitment and admission, networking within the field of Wilderness Therapy, assessment, and active engagement in the leadership of the TWT program. Qualified applicants must be able to demonstrate consistent success in negotiating the pedagogical, clinical, research, administrative, and collaborative responsibilities of a faculty appointment within the degree program, within the Graduate School of Counseling and Psychology (GSCP), and within the structure of the university at large. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teach 20 credits each academic year (approximately 10 each semester) in the Transpersonal Wilderness Therapy (TWT) program.
- Attend and actively participate in all programmatic and school-wide meetings, as well as co-curricular events sponsored by the TWT program.
- In concert with the TWT leadership team, develop and conduct plans for assessment, community building, and ongoing curriculum development.
- Participate in the administrative operations, including but not limited to admissions interviews and events of the TWT program.
- Engage in professional development that includes pedagogical approach, contemplative education, transpersonal education, and diversity/inclusivity.
- Hold regular office hours and meeting with students as needed outside of class time.
- Serve on and actively participate in appointed university committees.
- Understand and adhere to the policies, procedures, and protocols outlined in the Faculty and Employee Handbooks.
- Contribute to the advancement of the counseling and Wilderness Therapy fields through professional involvement such as conference presentations, original research, and publications.
- Complete additional program and university duties as assigned.
- A doctoral degree or ABD from a graduate institution of recognized standing in counseling or counselor education from a CACREP-accredited program, or have a related doctoral degree and have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013.
- At least 2 years of experience as a wilderness therapist and familiarity with the principles of wilderness therapy, adventure therapy, and ecotherapy.
- Teaching experience at the graduate level that is informed and enriched by clinical practice.
- Ability and willingness to teach in backcountry settings, including being certified as a Wilderness First Responder.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Colorado at the professional counselor or equivalent level.
- Demonstrated skill in recognizing and addressing issues related to privilege, oppression, diversity, and inclusivity in higher education communities, especially in regards to curriculum content and classroom facilitation.
- 7. Demonstrated ability to work with others in an administrative and leadership capacity and a willingness to rotate into the TWT chair position.
- Status as an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) or eligible for an ACS credential.
- The ability and willingness to fulfill the job duties listed in the job description.

- Experience with contemplative practices.

- Has achieved the rank of Associate Professor at another accredited university.
- Significant evidence of scholarly work such as professional presentations, publications, and/or a demonstrated interest in research.
- Demonstrated a record of exceptional institutional service and worked in leadership roles at a university.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
Maximum amount of weight employee must be able to lift/carry unassisted: Employee is exposed to the following as part of regular duties (e.g. loud noises, interruptions/distractions, heat/cold, dust, dampness, heights, etc.): General Supervision: The supervisor provides continuing or individual assignments by indicating generally what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines and priorities. Additional, specific instructions are given for new, difficult, or unusual assignments. The employee uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments. The supervisor assures that the work is technically accurate and in compliance with instructions or established procedures.
