Job Description

Talladega College invites applications for the position of Chair of Mathematics and Assistant Professor beginning August 2021.

Responsibilities:

  • The Department Chair is responsible for leadership in coordinating all aspects of the academic program such as degree requirements, curricular offerings and improvements, catalog, class scheduling and faculty teaching assignments.
  • Teaching responsibility to include innovative use of technology in the classroom.
  • Course scheduling that serves the needs of the program and students.
  • Review and revise department catalog information.
  • Coordinate student advising.
  • Assessment of program and student learning outcomes to include documentation.
  • Assess general education outcomes in core courses taught by department.
  • Recruitment of students and monitoring of department academic advisement.
  • Recruit, appoint, supervise and evaluate department faculty.
  • Department budget and management.
  • Serve on college committees.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean or Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Mathematics, or closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in the mathematics teaching discipline and a minimum of three years of teaching experience. Successful teaching experience at the college level is preferred. Should have documented performance in teaching, scholarship and service with an ability to work independently and as a team member. A commitment to student learning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
