JOB TITLE: Associate Professor / Program Director for Musical Theater
DEPARTMENT: School of Theater
REPORTS TO: Dean, School of Theater
Summary: The University of the Arts Ira Brind School of Theater Arts seeks a forward-thinking Musical Theater specialist and educator who is motivated to build a national and internationally renowned Musical Theater program. The ideal candidate will have the foresight, training and experience to transform our existing undergraduate Musical Theater program into one that prepares students to meet the challenges of an evolving field. The new program director will work collaboratively with the other program directors and the dean of the school to reimagine a Musical Theater program that exposes students to a wide-range of theatrical languages and forms of expression that will ultimately serve to elevate and transform the students creative arts practice and the discipline over time. In addition to their administrative duties, the program director will teach related courses, and mentors students and faculty toward the creation and development of sustainable practices that encourage deeper investigations of form and content. The new program director shares the Brind School's commitment to fostering a generative and safe space for bold investigation, and addressing social and curricular examination and implementation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, which are essential to the overall growth of the community as we honor the University's mission to "advance human creativity." Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.
