The Environmental Studies department at Davidson College invites applications for a 2-year Visiting Assistant Professor in Environmental Science. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate education and have completed coursework, taught courses, and conducted research that examines the interactions between the natural world and humans. We are particularly interested in candidates with relevant expertise to fill our existing gaps in environmental science including, but not limited to, climate dynamics and change, pollution fate and transport, groundwater hydrology, urban environments, energy, and natural hazards. Geochemical approaches and candidates who can deepen our students' understanding of human-environment interactions are especially appreciated. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Environmental Science, Earth Science, or related discipline/interdisciplinary program by June 2021. Commitment to excellent teaching to a diverse undergraduate population is a must. 

Teaching responsibilities included in the annual five course teaching load (where lab courses count as two courses) will be a rotation of introductory lab courses in Environmental Geology or Environmental Science, an upper-level elective course with lab, and a seminar course in the candidate's area of expertise. Each senior in the department completes a mandatory capstone research project, so we seek a colleague with a desire to mentor undergraduate research within their expertise.
