Family Nurse Practitioner Program Director
General Statement of Duties:
The department leadership team
members shall be responsible for the organization, administration, planning, development and execution of D'Youville's on-ground and online
Family Nurse Practitioner programs.
Examples of Duties:
Under the direction of the School of Nursing
Chair or Dean, responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Direct the program assessment
process to include assessment of student learning in faceto-face or virtual platforms.
- Support program enrollment management
initiatives as well as evaluate applications and interview candidates for admission.
- Plan, organize, schedule and oversee mandatory
- Provide information to the Chair to help with their assigning of faculty course load assignments based on
academic preparation and clinical expertise.
- Represent and support the best interests of the department (among internal
- Advocate for faculty, students, and alumni.
- Assist with enrollment management of program being directed
(including but not limited to marketing, recruitment, admission, advisement, and retention).
- Administer and submit regulatory or
specialized accreditation reporting to Chair.
- Assist with the development of new program opportunities internally and prepare for
- Monitor program curricular development and evaluation.
- Act as a liaison between various external
stakeholders, clinical facilities, and D'Youville to include the development of new articulation agreements.
- Help the Chair and
School of Nursing Faculty Search committee with the recruitment of full time and adjunct faculty and staff.
- Assist with the
development of annual and 5-year program goals.
- Collaborate in writing grant proposals and securing external funding
- Work with the Graduate Chair to orient new full time and adjunct Family Nurse Practitioner faculty.

- Counsel students regarding their education as well as their professional development.
- Advise Chair and Dean on faculty and student concerns.
- Collaborate with clinical I liaisons and clinical coordinators in
selection of clinical sites.
- Serve as a representative and liaison between the School of Nursing and the larger institution.
- Assist in the supervision, development, monitoring, and updating of departmental strategic planning.
- Maintain professional
- Monitors course scheduling, student files, course syllabi, and publications.
- Represent the School of Nursing
faculty at events, especially if the events directly pertain to the program being overseen by the Director.
- Represent the School of
Nursing on appropriate campus-wide committees.
- Contribute to the School of Nursing newsletter as appropriate.
D'Youville's Marketing and Communications team with accurate telecommunications and publications for the School of Nursing (for example,
college catalog, School of Nursing handbooks, School of Nursing website).
- Confer with faculty on development of new and revised
course and programs.
- Any other unique, discipline specific responsibilities including those required by an accrediting body as
identified by Dean.
Department leaders, in consultation with their respective
faculties, shall be responsible to the Dean or his or her designee for the supervision of the personnel and the implementation of the
educational programs of the department for which they serve. Department leaders shall have such other powers, duties, and responsibilities
as may be assigned by the Chair or Dean. Must maintain current RN licensure in addition to national certification in their discipline as
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for all School of Nursing leadership positions:
- Knowledge of CCNE and NYSED standards, in addition to specific standards (i.e: NONPF, AACN, AANP).
- Discipline specific
credentials and other requirements as specified by an accreditor (if applicable).
- An earned doctorate or appropriate terminal
degree in the field in which they are teaching or a closely allied field. In certain circumstances as approved by the Dean, candidates
actively pursuing a terminal degree may be considered.
- A minimum of five (5) years of effective teaching experience at the

- Leadership and administrative capabilities.
