Job Description

MidAmerica Nazarene University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Counselor Education to work within our mental health and marriage, couple, and family counseling tracks. The position is a full-time faculty appointment that will be eligible to teach in both our day and evening programs. The Counselor Education program is the largest in Kansas with 7 full-time faculty and over 180 students. The Counselor Education Department is housed in its own building with a full functioning clinic for the community as well as a play therapy center. The department is also in pursuit of adding a Ph.D. program.

Candidates for this position should be able to demonstrate a commitment to higher education delivered with a Christ-centered worldview, a strong commitment to the servant leadership model, and be able to successfully perform the following responsibilities.

Position Description: Assistant Professor/ Counselor Education Department

  • Teaches core or specialization courses
  • Supervises students
  • Participates in scholarly activities
  • Serve on Departmental and University committees
  • Works collegially with departmental and cross-campus faculty

Desired Qualifications: Each candidate should meet the following qualifications.

  • A doctorate in Counselor Education or a closely related field (CACREP program preferred).
  • Experience in either mental health or marriage, couple, and family counseling.
  • A record of successful experience in higher education and/or other educational environments
  • Eligible for licensure as a counselor in Kansas
  • A track record as a collaborative, servant-driven leader with outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal skills

Compensation: The successful candidate will be awarded an 11-month contract with full benefits including retirement, health insurance, and dental insurance. Salary will be highly competitive with similar positions at peer institutions.
