Job Description
The College of Health Science at Tennessee State University seeks applicants for the position of Department Chair, Occupational Therapy at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor/Professor. This is a full-time twelve-month tenure-track senior faculty position. Besides being responsible for all administrative functions of the OT department the successful candidate will also teach courses in the area of their expertise.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience

Minimum Qualifications include:
  1. Must be a board certified and state licensed occupational therapist or state license eligible
  2. Must hold a terminal degree, OTD (Post Professional), or related field Ph.D., Ed.D.
  3. Must have a minimum of 8 years clinical OT experience
  4. Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in OT academia
  5. Experience in scholarly activities
The successful candidate should:
  1. Possess management skills in the areas of;
    1. Faculty recruitment, review, and development
    2. Curriculum review and development
    3. Budget management
    4. Strategic planning and program evaluation
    5. Discovering and developing the formation of outside partnerships in the community
    6. Possess solid leadership skills to ensure the continued growth of the OT program
  2. Possess scholarly skills in the areas of:
    1. Grant initiatives
    2. Engagement in research and fostering faculty and student research
    3. Successful professional publications and professional presentations
