The Division of Education at Mount Saint Mary College (NY) seeks applications for one (1) tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education with expertise in Secondary/Adolescence Education or Secondary/Adolescence Education and Special Education. The position has a start date of August, 2021.
Candidates seeking this position should have an earned doctorate in secondary education, special education, or curriculum and instruction with a concentration in secondary/special education. Candidates should have teaching experience in K-12 schools with diverse populations, and should have a strong theoretical background and knowledge of research-based assessments, methods, and strategies for teaching all learners. In addition, qualified candidates should be able to demonstrate the use of instructional technology in face-to-face, hybrid/Hy-Flex, and online learning environments.
The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the adolescence and/or special education certification programs. The Division of Education places a priority on the importance of clinical experience in teacher education and working closely with schools in the community; therefore, several courses the successful candidate will teach require faculty-supervised, embedded fieldwork. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, faculty members are expected to maintain active participation in research, provide academic advisement for students, work collaboratively with college faculty, and have a commitment of service to the college and community.
