Title: Assistant/Associate Professor of Exercise Science
Department: Exercise Science & Athletic Training (ESAT)

The Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training (ESAT) at Adrian College invites applications for two Assistant/Associate Professors of Exercise Science. These are full-time tenure track positions that will begin August 2021.

The Department of ESAT currently offers undergraduate majors in exercise science and physical education, as well as a graduate degree track in athletic training via the exercise science major. Within Exercise Science, there are three majors (tracks): exercise science, pre-professional (intended for graduate school preparation), and pre-athletic training.

Among other assets, the Human Performance Laboratory is equipped with a variety of teaching and research equipment including but not limited to a Motion Analysis 3D motion capture system with an embedded force platform, ECG, an 8-channel wireless Delsys EMG system, two Parvo Medics metabolic carts, a Lode cycle ergometer, and a multimodal isokinetic dynamometer.

Our department strives to adapt to an evolving student base and prepare students for professional careers and graduate studies in exercise science and the health professions. Candidates with creative vision and an interest inleading innovative curricular initiatives in the field of exercise science will be seriously considered. Specifically, preference will be given to applicants with training in exercise prescription, performance enhancement/strength and conditioning, nutrition, and/or physiology.

It is expected that the successful candidates will maintain a commitment to excellence in teaching, diversity, scholarship, and service as defined by Adrian College's Ribbons of Excellence. Successful candidates will teach 12credits per semester of undergraduate classes in exercise science, with opportunities to teach within the candidates' interests/expertise and oversee graduate research.

Required Qualifications:
  • Earned Doctorate (PhD) in exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, or closely related field(candidates who are ABD may be considered).
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching at the college or university level.
  • Articulated knowledge of and involvement in professional organizations (ACSM, NSCA, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability in research and related scholarly achievement.
